Ibanez TS-9 Tube Screamer
The Ibanez TS-9 Tube Screamer, the successor to the TS-808, was orignally available between c.1981 and 1985. The first, and most noticalbe difference between the two, is the cosmetic appearance of the TS-9. Along with a darker green, slightly wider enclosure, the TS-9 gained a larger stomp switch and different control knobs.
The second major difference between the TS-9 and the TS-808 was a change in opamp from the JRC4558D to the JRC2043DD. In sonic terms, the TS-808 is generally considered to be sighty warmer sounding, the TS-9 is brighter in the mid-range and not quite as smooth sounding.
The new TS-9 faithfully recreates the original TS-9 and is still one of the 'best' overdrive pedals on the market.
